I just want to use my last blog to thank you Michael for this semester. I have learned alot about Web development. I didn’t realise how hard Web development was. I also realised that Websites can be sold for a considerable amount of money due to the complexity of them. I am definitely keeping my Twitter assignments to look on in the future. I might even go ahead and try to completely replicate the Twitter website.

Thanks again Michael for this semester, i’ll might see you around next semester.

Celebrating my one year with my GF

On saturday the 26th of July we decide to go and have dinner up in brisbane for a change to celebrate our one year. Thank goodness i didn’t have to drive up. We first caught the bus to coomera then got the train to brisbane city. We couldn’t catch the train from Robina cause there was Railway Track Works. Any way we got to brisbane and then tried to find this restaurant called Jo Jo’s. We were just walking down randon streets and miraculously we found Jo Jo’s within minutes. We walked into Jo Jo’s and the place was absolutely packed. We waited for about a hour before we could be seated because we didn’t book before hand. So when we eventually got seat we order our food and we didn’t have to wait long until our food was ready. After our dinner we slowly walked through the cold streets back to the train station and had a icecream while waiting for the train back to go back home to the Gold Coast. That probably didnt sound very special but it was actually very good.

Driving to Brisbane

Driving to brisbane on a saturday morning is not the most exciting thing in the world. I have to drive to brisbane every second saturday to play rugby games for my club (Gold Coast Breakers). I always tend to get lost if i don’t look at Google maps before hand. We get given directions from our coaches. But these direction are the worst directions ever. They tell me to turn right into streets that are one way streets and all the car are going in the opposite direction. Its no wonder i always get lost. The directions that the coach gives us are always completely wrong. Every time we travel to brisbane is a different location.

Some times when i have some one in the passenger seat who can’t read a map. They take me everywhere in brisbane except the place we want to be. Its friggin chaos. I hate the way brisbane has so many one ways streets. I went up a one ways street one time and found my self nearly crashing into a line of cars going in opposite direction to me. I like had to swirve of the road. So yea those are my experiences when i travel to brisbane.

My First Web application that i have chosen to blog about is a Collaboration Web application where people can ask any type of questions, and who ever feels the need to answer them then can. You are basically asking questions to a bunch of people on the internet, but only the registered people can answer the question. http://www.askeet.com/

The second Web application is a mapping Web application. I use this Web application alot because i travel up to brisbane alot to play rugby games. I always lookup the place that i need to go to on google maps so that i have a good idea where i am going. Some times if its really hard to get to. I print off directions off google maps to help me get to my destination. Google maps has never let me down. http://maps.google.com/

The third and last Web application that i have chosen is a Calender Web application where you can create a personal calendar and add birthdays, social functions, random get-togethers with friends, and while you’re at it, create reminders for paying bills, remembering special occasions, or checking that online auction. You can create a calendar for your office. Keep track of todos, milestones, and deadlines. If you are a teacher you can publish exam dates, homework due dates, project deadlines. Students can Subscribe to your class’ calendar, or else create your own class calendars then roll them up into one view so you can stay abreast of it all. http://www.calendarhub.com/

Google Docs verses Office Live Workspace

Google Docs:

It can store a combined limit of 5000 documents.
It allows file like .doc, .xls, .ppt, .txt etc …the most commonly used ones.
Each file is allowed upto 500KB.
Ten people are allowed to work on a document at any given time.

Office Live Workspace:

About 1000 documents.
It can store all files except for executable files.
Each file is allowed upto 25MB.
Only one person can work on a perticular document at one time.

They both have their pros and cons but i think that i would prefer Office Live Workspace because i wouldn’t need any more that 1000 documents, It stores most files, Each files is allowed 25MB which is more than Google Docs.

Road works!

Road works, road works and some more road works. Is it just me or is there road works every where. I am really starting to dislike the road works now. I didn’t mind it at first because they are making the roads better but now that it is everywhere i am really starting to get annoyed. I find that i am waiting for ever when i guy stops me with his stop sign. I think its because i am really impatient when i drive.

The tugun bypass was the worst but now that it is all finished its not to bad, although the traffic lights there on the bridge could be fixed up a little.

I swear no one ever goes the speed limit when it comes to road works. If the road works sign says the speed limit it 40km. Every body goes 60Km. When the road works sign says 60km every body goes 80km. Like the one on bermuda. It says either 60 or 40 but every one goes 80km. I wonder if any has been fined for not going the correct speed limit in a road works zone. Some one comment me and tell me if you know of some one who has been fined in a road work zone. or just comment me on the matter and what you think of it.

There has only been one time when people go the correct speed limit in a road work zone. Its when there are roads works on the highway at night, and the only reason people go the correct speed limit there is because there is always a police officer there, lol.

I seem to complain alot don’t I, lol.

Ok i think every body would agree with me when i say it has rained enough. I am sick of this rain.

My rugby games have be postponed countless times. I don’t think my rugby season will end this year because it rains so much. Gold Coast whether is so unpredictable. It would suck to be on holiday on the Gold Coast at the moment.

Its funny because i don’t like it when it rains in the day time but i like it when it rains at night. I find that i sleep better at night when it is raining. Does any body else like the sound of the rain hitting your roof when you go to sleep? or just the sound of the wind and rain in general. Maybe its just me.

Saturday Night

On Saturday night we invited some family friends over for dinner because it was my brothers birthday on that day. Any way so at around 5pm some guests arrived just in time for the Trinations game between the All Blacks (New Zealand) and the Springboks (South Africa). Originally coming from South Africa i was backing the Springboks. Throughout the game my family and i were bagging out some of the players on the South African side because they were just doing really stupid things. Particularly this one player Januarie. He kept on trying to run himself when he was supposed to pass the ball. I mean he is a scrum half. Scrum halfs are surppose to pass the ball. Any way both teams were neck and neck the whole game until Januarie made a fabulous dumy and ran through the gap then put a chip over the winger or fullback, then pick the ball up on the bounce and ran through and scored the try. Januarie won the game for the Springboks. I will never bag out Januarie ever again, ha ha ha ha. Any way i just thought that i would share my fantastic start to my saturday night after the Springboks defeated the All Blacks.

Petrol Prices are killing me

What is going on with these petrol prices aye. There is no way everyone is going to afford to pay $8 a litre unless we get massive pay rises. That is a joke. EIGHT DOLLARS! People are going to have to start riding their push bikes again soon aye. I feel so sorry for the Gold Coasters that have to work up in brisbane. Jee the must suck.

Even if people start driving electric cars that need to be plugged into a wall in your garage to be charged over night every night. That will still cost a fair bit. The electricity bill will be huge. Plus the price or value of electricity will go up too.

Some needs to event a car that runs on Oxygen or water or something that we have plenty of.
